DESCRIPTION:   Outstanding resistance to wear and abrasion. More pronounced and longer rays than red oak. Occasionally available with crotches, swirls and burls. Pores are angular and very numerous, filled with glistening substance called tyloses, which makes wood suitable for water-tight containers.
