Based in the Central Valley of California (once known as the olive capital of the world), Olivewood Creations was formed out of necessity, to save this historic and uniquely figured wood that was brought to Central California over 100 years ago by Spanish missionaries. These neglected hillside groves are rare and in danger of meeting the same fate as many other artifacts of California agriculture: being burned or chipped. As a woodturner and artisan, the owner of Olivewood Creations took on the task of preserving, storing and treating this beautiful wood.






    Olivewood Creations' wood selections include burl, trunk and limb wood. Custom slabs, blanks and rounds can be purchased as well. These Mission Olive trees were grown on hillsides with natural water and no other care, which accounts for the wood's unique grain patterns and figure.


    Artisans have been quick to appreciate the longevity and beauty of this special wood and have used it for a wide array of projects, including bowls, gourmet culinary tools, gaming boards and sets, custom furniture, religious artifacts, burial urns and the like. The hardness, the fragrance, the texture and the historical and Biblical significance of the wood is unrivaled.
