California is blessed with the world's finest Walnut! Larry Nichols Warm Wonderful Wood offers Walnut (Juglans Hindsii), English Walnut (Juglans Regia) and Bastogne Walnut. Bastogne Walnut is a cross between Claro and English walnuts. This walnut is also called "Paradox Walnut" or Hybrid Walnut. It varies greatly in color and grain. Mostly, though it is known for its intense, high quality figured gun stocks.
California's three great Walnuts are alive with figure, color contrasts and tone delineation - NOT FOUND in Eastern Black Walnut (Juglans Nigra).
Why the difference? Longer growing seasons, many soil conditions, micro climate changes, intermixing of species.

We saw a complete tree, root to crotch, in one pass. Visualize a large slab with natural edges, a burl or rootball on one end, the main trunk (Butt Log) in the middle and a wide crotch on the other end.
